Bellingham car crash leaves one critical and four injured after 'drink driver' ploughs Mercedes into 'car wash workers'.

INJURED car washers are tended to by passers-by after a suspected drink-driver mowed them down in a row yesterday.

The motorist, in his 30s, had been a customer at the car wash when an argument erupted with several Romanian workers around 8.20am.

Three people are in a critical condition after the 'drink driver' ploughed into them this morning Five victims injured, one critically after a Mercedes left the road in Bellingham, London

Dramatic images show bloodied victims strewn across the pavement after the driver smashed into a car wash, leaving one person "trapped underneath".

Four men and a woman were hurt as the car sped on to a pavement to hit them — leaving one trapped under it.

One victim, 25, was fighting for his life last night.

In addition to the victim fighting for life, police said a man, 25, and a woman, 35, were  "serious but stable" and two other men, aged 36 and 46, had minor injuries.

The driver got into his Mercedes  to plough into workers, scattering debris and footwear across the pavement in  Catford, South East London.

He then fled, chased by two men — one soaked in blood — who yelled: "What the f*** have you done?"

Witness Vincent Bakare, 30, said: "He had a big disagreement  in the car wash.

"I'm not sure if he told them to 'f*** off' or they did. He zoomed off in his car."

Colin Liddell, 29, added: "The  car turned round, accelerated and hit the people. He intended to."

Misasu Towolawi, 26, said: "We  saw  people covered in blood."

Firefighters joined other emergency units at the scene, below, and freed the victim stuck beneath the car.

One woman was reportedly trapped under the car after it ploughed into her early this morning

Witnesses described scenes of "carnage" at the car wash.[1]

Minasu Towolawi told the Evening Standard[2]: "I went up there and I just saw carnage. There were two men lying flat on their backs there.

"There was another lady was being sat upright and people were trying to get her awake. She looked gone to me.

"They were all just wailing and crying."

Eyewitness Colin Liddell, 29, added: "I saw the car turn around at the junction and then he put his accelerator to the floor and hit the bollard and five people before he hit the wall."

Police arrested a man on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving and drink-driving.

He was taken to hospital with a head injury.

The Mercedes appears to have come off the road and careered through a row of bollards before hitting a low wall at the end of a hedge.

The car's bonnet and boot were popped open by the impact and its airbags all deployed. Debris was left strewn across the pavement.
