Northern Honda officially celebrated the grand opening of its new dealership with a ribbon cutting and news it is donating a car for two years to the Food Bank.

Owner-Operator David Barber made the announcement.

"We have been in the new dealership beside Home Depot for a few months, but this was our chance to do something special for the community, with Dave Gardner, the President of Honda Canada in attendance. We chose to donate a Honda Civic to the North Bay Food Bank for two years, to help them with collecting food and having a promotional vehicle to fill with food at community events," says Barber.

The vehicle, maintenance, insurance and the promotional decaling is valued in excess of $10,000 over two years.

Food Bank Board Chair Katharine Strang says this is something that will help them do what they need, to help those less fortunate.

"We'll be able to save costs on wear and tear on staff vehicles, and we'll have a very visible "mobile billboard" to keep, our message front and centre in the community. This generous donation will also provide us with a vessel to fill at community events and our own promotions, It will increase our presence, our purpose, and our effectiveness, We are so thankful to Northern Honda for this gesture. It will make a difference for our most vulnerable."
