Two bodies discovered inside torched car parked at Long Island mall.

Cops discovered two bodies inside a torched car parked at the Green Acres Mall on Long Island, police said on Monday.

Nassau County police found a body after firefighters extinguished "extensive" flames in the Sears parking garage in Valley Stream around 11 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Early Monday, investigators said they found a second body in the car. One body is a man and the second is a woman, officials said.

The car was parked on the garage's third floor, police said.

The identities and causes of death for both victims were not immediately known. Detectives are investigating the deaths as homicides, police said.

The mall had been closed for at least an hour prior to the car fire call.

On Monday, shoppers shared their shock and speculation about what happened.

"It's usually safe over here. We don't usually have problems," said Dr. Reba Renee Perry-Ufele, 49, who lives in Rosedale, Long Island.

"Logically, why would a person stay in the car and burn up? They probably had the (bodies), put them inside and burned them," she continued.

"They probably strapped them in and pretended like they were here already."

"That is very, very scary," said shopper Ronel Richardson, 60, who lives locally.

"(You) have to be alert ... (to) look for anything suspicious. This is the first time that I hear anything like that around here." He added that the incident has left him feeling "very uncomfortable."
